    1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
  • Day 1 - 3:00pm - 4:00pm: Beam me Up: Increasing workflow efficiency with Bluebeam
Accreditation: 1 hr. OCILB, PDH This course will explore the benefits and efficiency gains by using the construction software: Bluebeam Revu. Revu allows cloud-based collaboration between parties, tracks changes in construction documents, manages document filing, and streamlines product take-offs and estimating. Attendees of this course will be introduced to the software and provided an overview of how it can be used for field surveys, document tracking, collaboration and take-off/estimating. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how to achieve a more efficient workflow with intuitive measurement tools, filters, toolboxes, and smart mark-ups.
    October 6, 2021
    3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
  • Day 2 - 9:30am - 10:30am: Not a Fix, but a Solution: Designing with VAV Diffusers
Accreditation: 1 hr. OCILB, PDH This course will review using VAV diffusers as the initial design choice for individual occupant control and comfort. Historically VAV diffusers are implemented to solve an existing overcooling or overheating problem. But by learning the fundamentals of VAV diffusers: operation, selection, performance, and controls, attendees will gain an understanding of how an initial design using VAV diffusers can be cost effective while providing a high level of control to each occupant.
    October 7, 2021
    9:30 am - 10:30 am
  • Day 2 - 11:00am - 12:00pm: What’s Cookin’: Latest Design Trends in Kitchen Ventilation
Accreditation: 1 hr. OCILB, PDH This course will explore a shift in the design of kitchen ventilation systems as it pertains to airflow, filtration, and controls. Attendees will become more knowledgeable regarding: moving away from using transfer air to a modern solution of using 100% OA air handling units, the importance of specifying increased filtration efficiency to keep grease ducts cleaner, and using control algorithms to reduce energy consumption.

  • Day 2 - 3:00pm - 4:00pm: Bad Drawings and Specs…it’s a big deal!
Accreditation: 1 hr. OCILB, PDH This course will explore the challenges and potential cost implications of various inconsistencies in construction drawings and specifications. Construction documents are created by design professionals and utilized by contractors to construct the building and achieve the design intent. Contractors in turn rely upon manufacturer representatives to provide products in compliance with the drawings and specifications. Inconsistencies or discrepancies with documents can lead to misinterpretations, underperforming buildings and additional costs. After reviewing examples of inconsistencies and their impacts to performance and cost, the course attendees will better understand the importance of correct and specific documents. During the course, discussion will be encouraged among the attendees. The sharing of perspectives and challenges faced by different parties will be better understood after attending this course.
