Inside Price Controls: ACP & Partners Travel to Winnipeg

Setting the Stage

The visit opened with a session on the Price story, led by Marty Maykut, giving the group context on the company’s history and manufacturing footprint before heading into the technical sessions. From there, the group moved into a tour led by Geoff Gray, covering Price’s Training Center North and R&D facility and giving a firsthand look at how new products and training tools take shape before they ever reach the field.

A highlight of the day was a visit from Gerry Price, owner and CEO of Price Industries, who stopped by to meet the group and take a photo, a nice reminder that Price remains a family company at its core.

Price Controls, Start to Finish

The core of the visit centered on Price Controls, led by Brad Cole and Mike Nicholson. The agenda walked through the full picture: an introduction to the Price Controls platform, a session on commissioning and programming, a factory tour, and an extended discussion and Q&A period.

What really captured everyone’s attention was Price’s in-house production of electronics – the circuit boards and electronic components that power its controls products. Rather than sourcing electronics from outside suppliers, Price builds these components in-house, giving them tighter control over quality and lead times on the controls side of the business, a real competitive advantage. The group also got a look at the ongoing expansion of that production capacity, a sign of how much investment is going into keeping up with demand for Price Controls. Seeing commissioning and programming demonstrated in person, then walking the factory floor where the equipment comes together, gave our team a level of detail that’s hard to get any other way.

The extended Q&A period at the end meant no question went unanswered, whether it was about system integration, sequencing, or field support.

ANTEC Controls

The trip also included a stop at Antec Controls, with a presentation and factory tour led by Curtis Carrick and Devon Sowiak. For a manufacturer whose products show up in critical environments like labs and healthcare facilities, seeing the engineering and manufacturing process firsthand reinforces why precision matters at every step. Walking the factory floor after the presentation connected the design principles directly to the equipment on the line.

Outside the Sessions

The trip wasn’t all technical sessions. The group spent a morning on a fishing excursion out of Gull Harbour on Lake Winnipeg, and the evenings brought the team together over dinner in Gimli and Hecla, at SMITH, and at Earls Kitchen and Bar in Winnipeg. It’s the kind of time that builds real relationships alongside the technical knowledge.

Why it Matters

Trips like this aren’t just about seeing new spaces. They’re about strengthening our team’s technical fluency on the products we represent, so when a question comes up about controls, commissioning, or system design, we’re speaking from firsthand experience rather than a spec sheet. Time spent directly with the people who design, build, and support this equipment is time that pays off for every customer conversation that follows.

We always appreciate the level of attention to detail Price puts into every trip they host, from the technical content down to the smallest logistics. Thanks to the Price Industries and Antec Controls teams for hosting and for the level of access and detail throughout the visit.

We also want to thank our partners who joined us on this trip. We know these visits ask a lot of your time, and we don’t take that commitment for granted. Thank you for making the trip and for being part of it with us.

Reach out to our team if you’re interested in visiting one of our manufacturers and seeing this kind of engineering and production firsthand. We’re happy to help set it up.
