Air Control Products partnered with Thorson Baker + Associates and R&D Heating and Sheet Metal on the new Cleveland Police Station, delivering a complete air movement and mechanical package designed for comfort, safety, and reliability.
The facility includes both vehicle storage and maintenance areas, equipped with a wide range of high-performance HVAC and air quality systems.
ACP supported the project from design through completion, ensuring full integration of systems and precise coordination across multiple manufacturers.
ACP’s relationship with Thorson Baker + Associates spans many years and numerous successful projects. This trusted partnership—combined with ACP’s broad product offering—made collaboration on the Cleveland Police Station an ideal fit.
From early design discussions through installation, ACP provided technical expertise, equipment coordination, and support to ensure every system met design intent and performance expectations.
The project involved retrofitting existing pre-engineered metal buildings, which presented structural limitations. Roof-mounted equipment was not an option, requiring creative solutions for makeup air and exhaust systems.
ACP worked with the design and installation teams to mount the makeup air units indoors on a mezzanine and outdoors on grade, then ducted them into the space. Fortunately, there was ample outdoor space for the units, allowing this approach to maintain airflow balance and performance without structural compromise.
This project showcased the breadth of ACP’s manufacturer partnerships, featuring products from six different ACP lines and twelve distinct product types.
When space limitations in the maintenance building ruled out HVLS fans, Thorson Baker + Associates’ Ian Yoder incorporated Greenheck GreenJet circulation fans—a creative and effective alternative that maintained airflow and occupant comfort.
The project serves as a strong example of how ACP leverages its full product portfolio to meet design intent, satisfy owner preferences, and deliver performance without compromise.
The completed Cleveland Police Station now benefits from a fully integrated HVAC and air movement system that supports comfort, safety, and long-term reliability.
ACP’s coordinated design support and collaboration with trusted partners helped bring the facility to life—ensuring it will serve the city and its team members for many years to come.
